What you are doing is a great thing. I moved to Canby in 1977 and lived there until 2000. I have lived in Wilsonville since then. I have always been active in the community coaching baseball and serving as a Scout leader with my 3 boys. My mother Marge Whitesell, was a very active member of the community until she passed away in 2003 of cancer. She was always involved in helping others through loves and fishes, as a lay pastor at the church and adopting and caring for seniors until they passed away years prior to her own passing. I wish that this service was around when she was the caregiver for them, and for my wife at the time, as I was the caregiver for her. Over the past year I have been working with my girlfriend in working with the elderly in various ways. She owns an adult foster care home in Forest Grove and helps families when they need help in finding a good home for care once they have become more than the families can manage. I truly feel this is my calling and I was very pleasantly surprised to find out about your facility. I would like to know more information about what all you do and would like to come by some time and see the place. My father still lives in Canby and I will talk with him about some of the things that you have on your wish list as he may be a good resource for some of the items you need for Thelma's Place. Keep up the good work! ~ Matthew Whitesell |
