Erik Berkey
Founder and Chairman
is an entrepreneur and has successfully operated several businesses including Country Side Living in Canby which he originally opened in 1999. Erik has had a passion for providing quality care for people with dementia since he was a small boy visiting nursing homes with his mother. He lives on a farm in Aurora with his wife, Kristen, and their 3 teenage children as well as their 5 Nubian goats, 6 cows, 1 horse, 5 dogs, 2 cats and lots of nursery stock. |

Meredyth Crofton
Board Chair
Meredyth has worked with seniors in the Portland area for the last 15 years, in home health, hospice and senior care environments as a community relations liaison. She presently serves at Thelma’s Place in duel capacity as current board chair and Wellness Director, and is a Certified Geriatric Wellness Instructor. She is committed to providing seniors with daily activities, nutritional information and training to encourage total body health and strong minds.
Meredyth served on the board of Metropolitan Senior Network as Program Director.
Originally from Colorado, she attended Western State College in Gunnison. Meredyth has three children and is a talented gourmet cook, but claims her favorite thing to make is reservations! |

Mary Reitan
Program Committee Chair
has been the Administrator at Country Side Living for 5 years where they specialize in the care of those with Alzheimer's or other dementias. Mary is also a Master Trainer on the "Best Friends Approach to working with Alzheimer's." Her work experience prior to Country Side included nearly 20 years in management and leadership roles. She has a passion for working with people with dementia because her grandfather and father had the disease. She saw first- hand how everyone struggles trying to cope with the caregiving responsibilities. Mary has 3 grown children and lives in Woodburn with her husband, Les, and her standard poodle, Henri, who will come to Thelma's Place each week to provide pet therapy. She loves to make handmade cards and to play with her 2 grandsons in her free time. |

Heidi Rowell
Media Director
is the Branch Manager for ResCare HomeCare in Portland and Salem. Heidi has worked with seniors for the past ten years. She discovered her passion for Alzheimer's/Dementia care while working at her first job as a CNA in a memory care community. Heidi has become involved in Thelma's place to help further the cause of this great resource. Heidi lives in Portland, OR and when she isn't working she enjoys camping and hiking with family and friends. |

Theodore Ahre
CPA, Finance Committee Chair
is a long-time resident of the area, residing in Woodburn, Oregon. He has degrees from the University of Oregon and The American Graduate School of International Management. Ted opened his CPA practice in 1979, in Woodburn. His firm provides pro bono accounting services to Thelma's Place. Ted's interest in Thelma's Place stems from his personal experience with his mother, who suffered from dementia. |

DeOna Bridgeman
M.D., Medical Committee Co-Chair
attended Oregon Health and Sciences University Medical School and completed her residency in Washington, Pennsylvania. She is board certified in Family Practice and joined the Davies Clinic in 2000. The reason she got involved with Thelma's Place was because of her belief that this type of program is needed in our community. When she's not working, Dr. Bridgeman enjoys sewing and reading. |

JoAnn Beck
Attorney Committee Chair
worked as a legal secretary/assistant for 30 years before earning her J.D. in 1991 at Willamette University Law School, Salem, Oregon. She began practice as an associate attorney for a partnership before starting her solo practice in Woodburn. Although her practice is considered a general practice, it includes work on elder law issues, estate planning and probate in addition to business and real estate matters. Her personal experience in working with elders has been helpful to her practice in assisting seniors and those who care for others. She sees her involvement with Thelma's Place as an extension of her service in this area. When she's not working, JoAnn enjoys cooking, reading, and vacations with her husband of 48 years and spending time with her family of 4 grown children and 11 grandchildren. |
